I refuse to pay over $2 a pound for meat. I won't even pay that much if it's not boneless (not after cooking up a whole package of chicken leg quarters a few years back, then weighing the meat vs. the bones and skin... I was throwing away HALF of what I bought!)
Friends don't let friends pay too much for meat. That's why I've added the new list on the side of my blog. "Local Meat Sales." I know not everyone checks the grocery store ads, but this is my very best tip for saving money at the grocery store - refusing to pay more than $2/lb for meat.
Varieties seem to cycle through, so within a month you can find pork, chicken, roasts, etc. Just about anything except fancier steaks, flank steak and seafood (but who eats seafood anyway?!) ;) Divide and freeze (or make freezer meals and you're a step ahead!)
So now you can look over there on my side bar and see the current sales. If you see a great sale somewhere that I missed, let me know. I'll add it. Let's help each other out! (Anyone else want to keep up a list for great produce sales?) :)

This is great! I will be checking in often. Now if only we had a Cost Cutter in our neck of the woods. Thank you!

Have you ever compared to Costco's prices on meat?

If you see a great deal at Costco, let me know (I rarely go there), but in my experience, their prices are still WAY higher than grocery store sales. Even their ground beef is over $2 everyday!

So I just started reading your blog and found you from Renee (who I also don't know in "real" life) but I am enjoying reading both of you. Thanks for the meat prices, will come in handy!!! I just wish we had a cash & carry or a cost cutter.
