Christmas Eve morning (we don't do Santa, so it doesn't so much matter when we open our stockings), the kids each got a pack of gum in their stockings. We said they could each have a piece right then, and they went about playing with their toys and happily chomping their gum.
Until Hallie began one of her absentminded habits... chewing on her hair. Gum + Hair = bad news.
Of course, she didn't come tell us right away. No, she had to try to get it out on her own first, forcing it further and further up into the hair on the left side of her head. Finally she realized she needed help.
As if by instinct (because I didn't question myself right then, but a few minutes into the process I wondered if I'd remembered correctly), I grabbed the jar of peanut butter and dug in.
What do you know? It worked! After about 10 minutes of working on it with a glob of nutty goo and my fingernails, I was able to get all of the gum out.
And a double-shampooing (lather, rinse, repeat) that morning got the peanut butter out.
