We got rid of cable at the end of the Summer. (For the last 5 years we've only had the most basic service, but decided it was time to cut the cord.) These are the times I miss it.
I found out about the earthquake in Haiti in the comments on Facebook. I'd heard nothing before that. I still feel like I haven't heard most of the news about the devastation. It's a bit like being in a cave during 9/11... you know something big is going on out there, but have only heard snippets. I'm trying to catch up with the news online.
This is Ralph. Our family has been sponsoring him in Haiti through Compassion for about 5 years. He's 9, enjoys soccer and marbles and taking care of his goats (some of our birthday gifts to him over the last few years.) He lives with his mom and enjoys Sunday school. We've written and recieved letters over the years and prayed for him and tried to lift his spirits when he was discouraged about his school performance. We are praying for him earnestly as we await word on his condition in light of the earthquake. When you're praying for Haiti (and you are, right?), consider saying a prayer for Ralph, too. And for all of the children who were already in poverty BEFORE this disaster. And find a way to help. Jodi has some great ideas...
