This was the 2-week follow-up with my family doctor after my initial appointment with an internist and chest x-ray a week and a half ago.
My doc said my lungs sounded "crummy", and asked if I had swallowed a harmonica recently.
He confirmed what the chest x-ray showed was inconclusive, but did NOT look like lung cancer or anything of that nature. (The referral papers said "possible interstitial lung disease", but after looking that up online, I don’t think that's quite it.)
He prescribed a second, stronger course of antibiotics and two different inhalers (albuterol and a steriod).
He referred me for a CT scan of my lungs next week (April 1st), and referred me to an allergy/asthma specialist April 13th (who may eventually refer me on to a pulmonologist.)
And then he gave me a stern lecture about this being "time to take care of Mom first instead of last."
Tomorrow morning is the meeting about Tyler and Hailey. I am a little nervous, but mostly excited to find out all I can and hopefully make plans to move forward. We got some very good news today about the timeline... we may be able to finalize within just a few months!
And speaking of good news... we finally got a call from Natalie's new foster mom. It sounds like things are going well there (she expressed that Natty could stay with her as long as necessary.) I have to admit I was the tiniest bit relieved to hear she's still waking up screaming at night (that it wasn't just our house), that the new foster mom has experienced her "fiery temper", and that she's pushing the limits there, too. (I believe the phrase was "the crib is going back up TONIGHT!") On the postive side, she's been able to set her up for counseling (she thinks there are signs of PTSD), and she's speaking in 3-4 word sentences! "Nay want more please." I think that's spectacular progress for just over a month! Overall, she's adjusting very well, and I'm so very glad to hear it.
Hey Hilary, I am just getting caught up after missing your blog for a few weeks. WOW!! I am hopeful for you! Looking forward to hearing how that meeting went today, though your FB sort of eluded to it. Amazing! -Shawn
