I am happy to report that camp this year was again, a smashing success. We had several returning families and a few new ones. Have I mentioned how much I love our friends? What a great group of children, and equally wonderful parents.
Day 1 started (as usual) with registration and lunch.
The children decorated their team t-shirts with fabric markers and paints (using brushes, stamps and screen printing). With four children at camp this year (Tyler and Hailey joined us TWO DAYS AFTER camp last year), I had one on each team.
I was again, the camp cook. Brian returned as "games-master."
One of the older boys gave demonstrations in knot tying, and did a great job!
Tami filled in as our announcer (we sorely missed the megaphone we rented last year... if anyone has a lead on purchasing one, let me know!) While Renee pulled double-duty, helping direct while caring for this cutie, her four-week-old son, Apollo.
(This little one is going to be my buddy - I was there for his first smile (at Starbucks, during Grump last week), have been the recipient of a couple more, and got lucky enough to capture one on film during camp.) But camp had several other little cuties... like sweet Oliver, for instance.
Most of camp was like previous years, lots of games, activities, crafts, scavenger hunt, water balloon fight, sleeping in tents, campfire, s'mores, tickets, snack shack...
One new activity this year was an egg hunt.
The children searched all over the yard for plastic eggs (bought on clearance) filled with candy and small toys. I think it's fair to say it was a hit.
Brian has already started collecting new game ideas for next year.
Renee has started a FAQ about camp on her blog... feel free to head over there to learn more (and see more photos.)

You and your friends are SO creative. What a fantastic idea, to hold your own camp. What fun you all seem to have. It looks like a total blast. The two littlest campers were sure cute as well :)

Still basking in the glow from camp over here...what fun. Every day something comes up about the egg hunt or balloon fight or the knots. ;)
