Can you tell by the glint in those beautiful brown eyes that the newest members of our family have been waiting for this day? That they've bugged me several times a week for the last two months about "how much longer?"
We measure our children on the doorway between the diningroom and kitchen on New Year's Day every year. (Since we purchased and moved into our home when Sam and Hallie were 3 and 1.) Gideon and Molly have never been here on New Year's day before! Of course we've measured them and marked them on the wall - once in July 2009, when they first came home, then again in April 2010, when they came home for good. But those weren't OFFICIAL measurements, and they seemed to sense that.
Since I didn't have an official starting point for them, I counted their measurement from the midpoint between the other two marks, which is bound to be very close.
Molly grew the most of the 4 children this year, with an upward movement of EIGHT centimeters!! (Incidentally, she's the exact same height Sam was at the same age.)
Hallie got second place with 7 centimeters. (Still our shortest... I mean, "fun-size" child.)
Sam passed up his (3 months younger) brother, just barely, with a growth of 5 1/2 centimeters, making him currently our tallest child!
Gideon wasn't far behind, with a very respectable 5 centimeter growth. Of course, it was a trick to measure him through all that puffy hair! And that was AFTER a haircut less than a week before!!!
And yes, we measured Baby K, too (in case she stays, just like we measured Natty last year.) I guess if you want to get technical, she grew the most since last year... being non-existent (not even in-utero) last New Year's. :)
