You Know You're An Adoptive Family When...

  • your child's new therapist scares the snot out of her... and you love him for it, and know you've finally found the right guy.
  • you daydream about how to add rooms or re-partition space in your small home to make room for more children.
  • for that matter, you wonder if there's someone who could retro-fit your van with another bench seat instead of the 2 seperate ones in the middle row, to make room for just one more child...
  • you have to remind yourself to let out of town friends and family members know how many kids you currently have, in case they missed a coming or a going.
  • you have to explain why the birthparents they love aren't on their "Safe-Side Adults" list.
  • you overhear your newest children talking in the bathroom, debating about whether they like this home better, or a previous one.
  • you tell your son he's your favorite black-haired 8 year old (since you also have a blonde 8-year old), and he replies with "And you're ONE OF my favorite moms."
  • your children see an advertisement with a baby in it and ask if we can "get that one."
  • your children ask to "keep" the babysitter.

DigiCrop

I held my first Digi-crop last night. I invited some friends that I knew were dabbling (or more) in digital scrapbooking to come hang out and swap tips.  Let's just say the turnout was pretty small... just one friend came, and not until very late in the evening.  Oh well.  It was still fun, and I had the pleasure of helping Stephani through the process of using her first "quickpage" template. I shall try again next month!

I am absolutely in love with templates.  You wouldn't see me TOUCH a template in paper scrapbooking (sorry, Diane!), but in digital, it's so quick and versatile.  I'm getting in the habit when my scrapbooking magazines come in the mail (or sometimes when I see a layout I like online), that I'll take a few minutes to make a layered PSD template of the layout so I can use it for pages in the future.  Here's one I made last night (see page 34 of this month's Simple Scrapbooks Magazine):

Freebie

I've been playing again.  I saw a cute digital layout that I wanted to make a template for, so I created a pretty close replica.  But sticking out under one paper on the layout was the cutest little scrap of paper that looked like it had been torn from a spiral notebook.  I didn't have anything like that.  So I made one.  And then I made two more similar ones.  And then I made some virtual packaging, and thought I'd share.  So if you're a digital scrapbooker and you want to play with them... go right ahead.  I'd love to see how you use them.
